I am so pleased to announce that my drawing of Gazelle, featured on the home page of this site, just won the John Foreman Prize for “best in show” in classical figure drawing, painting and sculpture at this year’s Faculty-Student exhibition at the Art League of Alexandria. I thank the Art League and the judge, Walter Callahan, for this great honor. What a great way to start the new year !

This is a workshop that I will take, while encouraging my students to join me – all levels welcome. Just a few spaces left so don’t wait! To register, send me your contact info by email and a check to my PO Box (see contact tab on this web site). For more information on the workshop see the tab for classes.

Snow is coming…
Classes may be cancelled this Wednesday, February 20, if snow and ice develop as expected. Please watch this site for updates on studio closures and lesson cancellations. We will schedule make up classes, as necessary. Keep drawing…!
Workshops: we specialize in friendly, but serious ones for artists at all levels!
Master artists are inquisitive and confident; you can tell because they attend each other’s workshops! Booth Malone, Signature Artist and President of the American Academy of Equine Art took Patricia Rice’s workshop, Painting on Copper. Then Patty took Booth’s class on Equine Art, working on Copper. Sam Robinson, recent winner of the highest prize the AAEA offers also showed up for Booth’s workshop, driving all the way from Maryland. He gave us all a brief tutorial on painting with gouache. This is what a healthy art community looks like. Come join us!
Open Studio Sunday, February 17
From 1-4 PM we will have three still lifes set up: fruit and drapery in Studio B and Ms Fox in studio A. Members can come draw, paint or sculpt for free. Others please bring $10 to help defray costs. No need to reserve a space unless you want to reserve an easel. Come by 12:45 if you want to influence the objects or lighting. This is a monitored but non-instructional session for artists of all levels. We have fun and keep things light, but take out art seriously. Hope to see you there!
Hope to see you there!
